ENS-2820: Sporadic Notification Loss for Workspace ONE Boxer in environments using Workspace ONE Email Notification Service 2 (ENS2) for On Premises Installations

Symptoms

Users may experience sporadic loss of notifications from Workspace ONE Boxer on devices enrolled in environments utilizing Workspace ONE Email Notifications Service 2 for On Premises Installations.

 

Customer Impact

Customers using Workspace ONE Email Notification Service 2 (ENS2) for On Premises Installation are required to make a configuration update as by ENS2 might fail to notify Workspace ONE Boxer to initiate resubscription. This reconfiguration is required to ensure that Workspace ONE  Boxer is notified to initiate resubscription.

 

Workaround

Customers should note workaround involves stopping ENS application services, updating configuration file and restarting the services. Environments utilizing a single ENS server will temporarily lose notification functionality until the service is restarted.

In order to change the ENS2 configuration:

  1. Navigate to the ENS website (Or Default Website) in IIS
  2. Right-click ENS and the click Manage Website >Stop

    AirWatch ReSubscription Mechanism
    AirWatch RSA Key Tracker Service

  4. Open file \{ENS_INSTALL_DIRECTORY}\Email Notification Service\Services\ReSubscriptionMechanism.exe.config in any editor, find section that starts with <pinnedCertificates> and ends with </pinnedCertificates> and replace that with following section:

  6. Restart ENS website from IIS
  7. Now restart following services

    AirWatch ReSubscription Mechanism
