[Resolved] Temporary removal of VMware Workspace ONE Container from regional Google Play Store


Last week, the VMware Workspace ONE Container was pulled from the Google Play Store for all global regions. This outage was due to an older version that a small number of devices still had installed that used a permission that Google Play deemed privacy sensitive. The newest version of Container does not request this permission, but it was removed due to Google Play policy. 

VMware has removed this legacy retained version from the Play Store and worked with Google to restore the production version. As of February 27th, 2019, Workspace ONE Container is now accessible for new users again.


Customer Impact

No existing devices were impacted by this outage. For the duration of the outage the Workspace ONE Container application was inaccessible for new users.
