Overview
One of the most common methods of enrolling a fully managed device into Android Enterprise is to use the DPC identifier for Google to automatically provision the correct EMM. Originally, this identifier was afw#airwatch, and as of April 2nd, VMware has changed the identifier to fall in line with the rest of our updated application name. The new identifier is now afw#hub to match the new name for the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub application, used to manage devices in Workspace ONE.
For additional information on how to enroll Android devices using the Workspace ONE identifier, please refer to the documentation here.
Customer Impact
No currently enrolled devices will be affected.
Newly enrolling devices that use the old identifier, afw#airwatch, after Google has updated the identifier to afw#hub, will receive an error as the code will not be understood. New enrollments on or after April 2nd wanting to use DPC identifier enrollment will need to use afw#hub to enroll successfully. End-user messaging and documentation may need to be updated to let users know which identifier to use at which time.
