CRSVC-4591: Certificate auto-renewal not occurring for multiple environments

Additional customer impact and workaround information is located within the article.

Device Management

Certificate Transparency Policy for TLS certificates in iOS 12.1.1 and macOS 10.14.2

As of WWDC 2018 in June of this year, Apple confirmed that publicly-trusted Transport Layer Security (TLS) server authentication certificates issued after October 15, 2018 must meet their Certificate Transparency (CT) policy to be evaluated as trusted on Apple platforms. Certificates that fail to comply will this policy will result in a failed TLS connection, which can break an app’s connection to Internet services or Safari’s ability to seamlessly connect. Additional information including remediation steps for environments can be found in the full article.

Block Unknown Sources using Android Enterprise Custom XML

On Android Enterprise, the VMware Workspace ONE UEM Console currently offers a Restriction to control blocking of unknown sources called Allow non-market app installation. On Work Managed (DO) mode, this restriction will apply to the entire device, while on Work Profile (PO) it will control only the Work Profile. In addition to these restrictions, it is possible to send a Custom XML Profile to a Work Profile (PO) device to control Unknown Sources across the entire device, even on the personal side. Be sure to use this setting wisely and ensure your end-users are aware of the purpose of the restriction if applied.

iOS Manual Profile Installation Update

Apple recently released the first beta for iOS 12.1.1. One of the announced changes in that beta is a new experience for profile installations called “manual profile installation”. This change results in enrollments no longer automatically redirecting from Safari to the iOS Settings to install the MDM or configuration profile. The user is now able to download one or more MDM profiles and manually navigate to system settings to install them.
While VMware does not provide active support for beta features for Apple platforms, it is important to know that our product team is working with Apple to provide feedback and update our applications and services as needed to accommodate this change.
