Introducing VMware Workspace ONE Boxer 5.0 for Android

The VMware Workspace ONE team is excited to announce that VMware Workspace ONE Boxer 5.0 for Android is publicly available.

 

What’s New in this App Version 

  • BINXA-7987: Workspace ONE Rebrand – VMware Boxer is now officially called VMware Workspace ONE Boxer. More information regarding our rebranding efforts can be found here.
  • BINXA-6979: Email Notification Service (ENS) BETA for Android
    • ENS2 version 1.3 is required to use this feature
      • ENS2 Cloud already supports Android ENS
      • On-Premises ENS2 1.3 is in beta
      • This BETA version only supports Basic and Modern Authentication with more authentication versions coming soon.
    • Next month, ENS will become essential for a good email experience in Boxer, as it is on iOS devices. For more information, please visit this article.
  • BINXA-7585: ENS2 Content Notification Policy
    • Notification policy allows the admin to control what information is shown in notifications. To enable ENS2 and a KVP is required. To configure, use the KVP “PolicyLimitNotificationText” and int values of:
      • 0 (Shows Sender, Subject & Preview)
      • 1 (Default, Shows Sender and Subject)
      • 2 (Shows Sender)
      • 3 (Shows a generic message (“New message”)
      • 4 (No notification, only update the badge)
  • BINXA-7210: New Conversation View GA
  • BINXA-8349: Changed the order of the Bulk action select options to standardize with the New Conversation View
  • BINXA-8413: Default New Conversation View to collapse all messages in threads
  • BINXA-6818: G Suite support
    • Workspace ONE Boxer now supports Google’s G Suite
    • Due to Google's implementation over ActiveSync, the following features in Workspace ONE Boxer do not work: Calendar attachments, Availability Lookup, Folder creation, Email Notification Service (ENS), To-do action, Events Forwarding, Email flagging.

  • BINXA-7987: User can set the timeout for calendar sync
    • This setting can be found under Workspace ONE Boxer Settings > Advanced

  • BINXA-8209: Workspace ONE Boxer crashes when turning on Mobile Flows

 

Known Issues

  • BINXA-8649: Workspace ONE Boxer is rendering PDFs which are embedded in a Rich Text Format (RTF) document

  • Prior Version is Installed: Direct end users to update the app when prompted. The application seamlessly updates over the existing application version without disrupting device enterprise functionality.
  • Prior Version is Not Installed: Direct end users to download it from the Google Play Store.
