iOS Hub Beta 3 - New Features

iOS Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub

New Features & Technical Requirements

The Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub application has many new capabilities on top of the features already part of the former AirWatch Agent. The first and second phase of this beta program was focused on the migration of these AirWatch Agent features to the new Hub interface and the new Hub catalog for native applications and web clips. We encourage you to continue testing these features either in your own environments or in our sandbox to validate all your organizations use cases and submit feedback.

NOTE – In order to test any identity or catalog related services in Hub in your own Workspace ONE environment, you must have a SaaS-based vIDM tenant with the appropriate configuration. For more information, please refer to our article here.

For the next phase of this beta program, we want to open up the capabilities of the Hub app even further by integrating identity through VMware Identity Manager. To make this simpler and more efficient for admins testing this, we have pre-configured several tenants with the necessary components to allow admins to enroll and experience these features first hand. The goal for admins should be to try all the new abilities of the Hub, understand how they could be leveraged in their organizations, and report any feedback or questions.

Below are the required credentials and information for what to expect when enrolling.

NOTE – The users and data are artificial and do not reflect real individuals or objects. This means that the users and data may be shared across several other beta participants.

URL

This is the URL that will be used when asked for “Server” during the enrollment process. If there are questions on this, please use the environment where your current SaaS UAT environment exists. If you do not have one, please select based on your region.

Users

After you confirm your URL and Group ID, you should be prompted for a username and password. There are several different users for each of the environments. Some users deliver the same user experience while others are specific to unique workflows such as shared devices, staging, and MAM container enrollment. Please reference the table below for what the expected experience should be.

NOTE: Single User Staging and Shared Device Mode users can only be used with iOS devices

Expected Behavior

The expected behavior is the same for all environments and for all users with the same Enrollment Type. For example, username Beta1 with type Managed and username Beta6 should have the same expected behavior and there is no advantage to selecting one over the other. Please only select users that pertain to the environment you are using per the chart above.

Enrollment

·      A Managed enrollment user should experience a typical username password enrollment in order to log into the application. This means after entering in the URL on the initial Hub screen, you should be prompted for Username and Password to step through retrieving the MDM Profile

In-App Navigation

·      Once enrolled, a user should be redirected to a new app catalog landing screen in the Hub application. If this is not done, the user can simply launch the Hub app

·      You may experience various security and privacy requests to proceed in the application

·      In the top right corner, there should be a circular icon with a “B”. Clicking this icon should take you to the Account section where existing features from Hub Beta 1 can be found.

Applications

o   Salesforce (SSO enabled on iOS)

o   Slack

o   VMware Boxer

o   VMware Browser

o   VMware Content Locker

o   Workday

o   Google (web link)

·      The VMware Tunnel and Salesforce applications should be automatically installed after enrollment. This may not be silent depending on your device settings. All other apps are set to On Demand.

·      The user can click Install on any of the other apps to be prompted to install the app on device. Again, this may be silent depending on your device settings.

Identity Services

·      If you enrolled with the details in this document, then your enrollment is enabled with identity-based services for additional functionality in the Hub app. Users will see three additional fields when enrolling:

o   Home

§  The Home section is a tab displaying a web browser frame for a pre-configured URL. In this example, we will be using https://www.vmware.com/products/workspace-one.html

o   People

§  The People section is for viewing your user’s corporate hierarchy and searching for other individuals in our organization

o   Notifications

§  The Notifications section is for viewing messages and custom information that may be important for your user. For this example, this information will appear on occasion and also be pre-configured.

Container
