Changes to native Wi-Fi Proxy configuration for Android Legacy enrolled devices

With Android 8.0 Oreo, EMMs no longer have the ability to natively set a Wi-Fi Proxy in Android Legacy (Device Administrator) mode.  With the exception of Samsung and Zebra, Android 8.0+ devices using Android Legacy do not support the Wi-Fi Proxy configuration within the Wi-Fi Profile.

This issue does not affect devices enrolled as Android Enterprise Work Managed.

Customer Impact

Customers configuring Wi-Fi Proxy for Android 8.0+ devices managed via Android Legacy (Device Administrator) can only do so on Samsung and Zebra using the methods below:

Samsung Android 8.0+ devices (Android Legacy):

No impact - Configure the Wi-Fi Proxy settings within the Wi-Fi profile.

Zebra Android 8.0+ devices (Android Legacy):

Use StageNow to create a custom MX XML that configures Wi-Fi Proxy settings.  Install this XML onto a device using the Apply Custom Settings action available in Staging & Provisioning > Files/Actions.
