End of General Support for Classic Secure Email Gateway (SEG) Installer


The Classic Secure Email Gateway (SEG) installer will reach End of General Support on May 5, 2019. On December 24, 2018, the Classic SEG installer will be removed from the Resources portal. After May 5, 2019, VMware cannot guarantee full support for Classic SEG. 


Customer Impact

All customers currently utilizing Classic SEG should migrate over to SEG V2 before the End of General Support date. This new "V2 platform" allows for significant performance improvements over the existing application.

This first release of the SEG V2 platform can be easily deployed on an existing SEG server, and can support an existing MEM deployment without any end-user interaction.  For information about migrating to the SEG V2 platform, see the Migration section of the Secure Email Gateway guide. Please note:

  • The SEG V2 platform can be installed on an existing SEG server with minimal downtime. 
  • No profile changes or end-user interaction is required when upgrading.
  • All use-cases for SEG are equally supported on SEG V2. For more information, please refer to the complete comparison matrix in the SEG guide.
