Zebra MX Framework Force-Stopped

On certain Zebra Marshmallow devices (models listed below), there is a 20% chance the MX Framework process will be force-stopped due to resource constraints. When this happens, the AirWatch MX Service is unable to call the MX Framework, which results in Zebra-specific configurations to fail. When these configurations fail to apply, administrators see failed products for these devices. An underlying issue in the Operating System is not allowing the Framework to automatically recover itself, which results in devices being stuck in this state until they are rebooted.

The affected models include the following:

  • TC51
  • TC56
  • TC70x
  • TC75x

Customer Impact

Customers are highly encouraged to update their Zebra devices to ‘LifeGuard Update 08’, which is available from Zebra. This patch allows the MX Framework to recover itself and minimizes the issue to only 1% of devices. Otherwise, customers may see a 20% job failure on Zebra Marshmallow devices.

Please navigate to Zebra Support for additional information on the LifeGuard Update 08 for specific device models.
