API calls blocked if Basic Admin account authentication is past the password expiration period

Any administrator account leveraging basic authentication needs to renew their password after the expiration period. Basic administrators with an expired password attempting to authenticate via API endpoint are presented the following error in Console 9.3+:

401: User 'tester' password is expired or password should be changed.

Customer Impact

Any administrator accounts leveraging basic authentication, having an expired password will need to renew their password. The VMware Workspace ONE Team recommends using Directory Accounts in order to have an account with credentials that do not expire.

SEG V2 and SEG Classic

In environments in which basic authentication was used during the initial installation of the SEG (V2 or Classic) updated credentials will only need to be used when upgrading or reinstalling the SEG. After the setup procedure, SEG uses Certificate/CMS for authentication and, therefore, basic credentials are only required to establish initial communication.
