[Resolved] ISDK-170171: Intermittent Touch ID Failure

There is an intermittent issue with SDK built applications where Touch ID will intermittently stop functioning and will no longer log the user in. This issue affects both AirWatch apps as well as 3rd party apps built using versions of SDK 5.9.4.7 or lower.

Implications for Customers

The following is a breakdown of whether or not the issue will occur and how to recover depending on the different scenarios. The experience and recovery required will depend primarily on the SDK versions of the apps and whether SSO is enabled or disabled.

SSO Enabled:

  • If any AirWatch app on the device is using a SDK version below 5.9.4.7 – If this issue occurs, the user will need to go through the forgot passcode workflow to re-enable Touch ID or re-install the application.
  • If the lowest SDK version on a device is 5.9.4.7 or higher but lower than 5.9.5 – If this issue occurs, they will be able to re-enable Touch ID by manually logging in with either their passcode or credentials again. Touch ID will then be enabled again on the next login prompt.
  • All apps on the user’s device has SDK version equal to or greater than 5.9.5 – This issue will no longer occur.

SSO Disabled:

  • SDK app is below SDK 5.9.4.7 - If this issue occurs, the user will need to go through the forgot passcode workflow to re-enable Touch ID or re-install the application.
  • SDK app is using SDK 5.9.4.7 or higher but lower than 5.9.5 - If this issue occurs, they will be able to re-enable Touch ID by manually logging in with either their passcode or credentials again. Touch ID will then be enabled again on the next login prompt.
  • SDK app is using 5.9.5 or higher - This issue will no longer occur.

Note: This issue does not affect Workspace ONE.
