Phased Rollout Pilot for iOS App Releases

Update October 11th, 2017: During the rollout for iOS Browser 6.5 we learned that the phased rollout only applies to end users who have "Auto Update" enabled for applications.  Users who go to the App Store during the phased rollout will be able to update to Browser 6.5 manually.  Additionally, administrators who deploy the updated application through VPP will be able to do so.

In an effort to provide the best possible user-experience when releasing iOS applications, the VMware AirWatch team will be piloting the Phased Rollout which is now available through the App Store. We will begin evaluating this process with the iOS Browser 6.5 release, with the goal of adopting it for all iOS applications moving forward.

Action Items for Customers

No action is required by customers other than to note that with phased releases, the application version updates will go out to an increasing percentage of users with automatic updates turned on, over a 7-10-day period. All users will still be able to manually update their applications directly from the App Store and new users will always see the latest version in the store.
