Getting Ready for Android Oreo (8.0)

Google released the latest version (8.0) of their Android OS nicknamed Oreo on 8/21/2017.  Please subscribe to this page to stay up to date on AirWatch's compatibility with Android O.  We will update it in real time as we have more details to share.

In the event that we identify a critical compatibility issue between one of our applications and Android Oreo, we will post a Known Issue on myAirWatch.  If your team identifies a potential issue and you do not see a Known Issue posted, we encourage you to submit a Support Request through the myAirWatch Support portal.

AirWatch applications for Android Oreo

Customers that currently leverage any AirWatch applications for Android must take the following steps to ensure that Android O is fully supported in your environment.  Any devices leveraging an earlier version of AirWatch applications will not be fully supported on Android O.  This can result in the issues impacting functionality and usability.

Please subscribe to Product Announcements in myAirWatch to stay up-to-date on the latest AirWatch releases.  Announcements will be made for each of the applications outlined below.

Prior to upgrading to Android O, please ensure your end users are leveraging the specified version of each application below to fully support the OS.  Note that some of these applications are not yet available, but will be released in the coming weeks and updated in the chart below.

AirWatch App Wrapping

Any application that has been deployed through AirWatch using the App Wrapping service must be re-wrapped using an updated version of the App Wrapping service that supports Android O.  This will be released in the coming weeks.  A new version of each application must be added to and deployed through the AirWatch console using the App Wrapping service after this date.

AirWatch SDK

If you are currently leveraging an application that was developed utilizing the AirWatch SDK, you must update this application to utilize an updated version of the AirWatch SDK that supports Android O. This will be released in the coming weeks and made available in myAirWatch.  An updated version of each application will need to be deployed through AirWatch and installed on devices.
