What is a blueprint?
A blueprint is a feature in AirWatch Express that allows the administrator to set up all necessary configurations for their devices in an easy to follow set up wizard. This includes applications, email/Wi-Fi, and device restrictions.
Where do I go to connect my directory and import my users?
There are 3 steps needed to setup your directory with AirWatch Express.
- Install the AirWatch Cloud Connector located under Settings > System > Enterprise Integration > Cloud Connector. The AirWatch Cloud Connector is necessary for the AirWatch Express cloud system to communicate with your internal directory securely.
- Configure your directory settings at Settings > System > Enterprise Integration > Directory Settings.
- Navigate to either the Account > Users/User Groups or Blueprints > Users section to search for individual users or directory groups
What if I have a Wi-Fi security type that is not part of AirWatch Express?
AirWatch Express features a minimal feature set that includes a subset of Wi-Fi security types. For Wi-Fi settings outside of this subset, your AirWatch Express environment must be upgraded to a more advanced offering. Please visit www.air-watch.com or contact us at email@example.com.
What if I have additional email settings I want to configure (toggle mail sync time, limiting attachment size, etc)?
AirWatch Express features a minimal feature set that includes a subset of email settings. For email settings outside of this subset, your AirWatch Express environment must be upgraded to a more advanced offering.
What is the difference between a complete and incomplete blueprint?
An incomplete blueprint is one that has not been published out to devices. If a user is associated with an incomplete blueprint, any devices that have enrolled will not receive the entitlements of the blueprint.
What is does it mean to set a passcode on a device?
Setting a passcode on a device requires users with enrolled devices to create a passcode with the specified conditions in order to unlock.
What does it mean to deploy an app as "On Demand" vs "Automatic"?
"Automatic" installation means that the app in question will attempt to be installed by the AirWatch Express system on an interval basis until it is confirmed as successfully installed. "On Demand" implies that the owner of the device will need to trigger the installation from the AirWatch App Catalog on their device.
Why can I not select whether to deploy a specific app as "On Demand" or "Automatic"?
There are a few reasons why the ability to choose a deployment type is removed.
- If an app requires a payment of some kind (it is not "Free"), then AirWatch Express is forced to default the deployment method as "On Demand".
- If an app has been added via the Windows stores, AirWatch Express does not have the capability to "Automatically" install these files.
Why is my newly enrolled device not receiving any features?
To ensure your enrolled devices receive their intended features, be sure the user that is associated with the device is added to the appropriate blueprints with the expected features.
Can my users be part of multiple blueprints?
Yes, your users can be associated with any number of blueprints and will receive settings for all blueprints.
What if there is conflicting settings being sent to a device associated with multiple blueprints?
If specific settings sent to a device conflict with one another (e.g. one blueprint blocks camera access and another allows it), the most restrictive setting will be sent. In our example, the camera would be blocked.
How do I avoid seeing the "Personal Apps" and "GPS" location of my devices?
In order to avoid seeing the private settings of a user's device, you must enroll the device as "Employee Owned" rather than "Corporate Dedicated". This can be done during the enrollment process or by adding a new device for a user.
Why are some policies available for some platforms and not others?
These are platform limitations and not limitations of AirWatch Express or AirWatch.
