Upgrade: Console: AirWatch Database is in Read Only Mode (Cannot launch AirWatch Console)

Error/Symptom

When we attempt to access/launch the Admin Console of AirWatch we face this error/issue.

This error is observed on the Verbosed AirWatch Console logs. 

The exact Error is as listed below.

2016/06/25 16:28:31.718 DS 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 [0000000-0000000]   (5)   Error LoginPortableArea.Controllers.LoginController Encountered exception authenticating user administrator: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Failed to update database "AirWatch" because the database is read-only.

 

Cause

The AirWatch database when is read only mode causes this error.

 

Resolution

Check the Database settings on the SQL Server where the AirWatch Database is located. It should not be in Read Only mode.

The image below shows the exact setting which needs to be  FALSE. If the setting is true, it needs to be changed to match the image below.

Note

  1. The AirWatch database should not be in Read Only Mode. We cannot do anything on a database that is in such a mode.
  2. Sometimes we might face issues with the GUI to change the database state settings. We can then run the Query below to change the database mode.

ALTER DATABASE database-name SET READ_WRITE
