Upgrade: Database Upgrade Failed -Converting a varchar data type to a datetime data type

Symptoms:

Database upgrade to 8.1+ Fails

The upgrade error log has an error description written in a language other than English. For example:

Error SQL72014: .Net SqlClient Data Provider: Msg 50000, Level 16, State 3, Line 245 Bei der Konvertierung eines varchar-Datentyps in einen datetime-Datentyp liegt der Wert auáerhalb des g�ltigen Bereichs.

Script execution error.  

('Database must be upgraded to AirWatch 8.0 before this upgrade can be applied. Current Version is %s.)

Cause:

The Current Version of the AirWatch database is not detected correctly (because the installer is not translating the text correctly):

The language of the sql user running the upgrade is the critical factor.

Resolution:

Please open SQL Management Studio and then expand Security and right click on the SQL user account being used for the database upgrade and select Properties.

At the bottom of the account's Properties Page please note that Default Language for the user is set to something other than English.

Please change it to English and hit Save.

Then re-run the same Database Upgrade using that same sql account.
