Upgrade: AirWatch services do not start after completing an AirWatch upgrade - Error 1920 / 1053:


Services fail to start post upgrade. Manually starting services fails as well.  You see the error messages:

Error 1920. Service {Name} failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.


Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.   




Option 1.

On the application server, verify the database connection string inofrmation by navigating to C:\AirWatch\AirWatch #.#\Supplementary Software\Tools\UpdateSQLinformation. Confirm the database server name, database name, username and password. User the tool to update the connection string if necessary. 

Option 2.

Change the Windows service timeout value in the registry. You can use the following CMD command to update it for you. Make sure to right click and run CMD.exe as administrator. You can reference the following Microsoft KB for more information on this change: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/922918

"REG ADD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control /v ServicesPipeTimeout /t REG_DWORD /d 120000"
