Standard configuration for Gmail IMAP/SMTP profile

Standard configuration for Gmail IMAP/SMTP profile

As Gmail uses different internet protocols, Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), the same commonly used Exchange ActiveSync payload would not work for Gmail configuration, to configure Gmail for customer. When configuring a Gmail profile for your end users without using a more advanced MEM solution (such as a SEG), the Email payload should be used. In the sections below both the iOS device profile and Android device profile configuration will be covered:

iOS device profile configuration

Email

  • Account type should be set to IMAP, as Gmail uses the IMAP protocol.
  • User display name should be the name the end-user registered their Gmail account.
  • Email address should just be users’ Gmail addresses, in most cases, this field can take a lookup value, which should be {EmailAddress}.
