What does "Error Code: Pending" mean when attempting to push an app to a device?

"Error Code: Pending" is seen if an install application command is sent to the device but does not complete successfully and the device either breaks the connection or does not respond with a successful install message. This can occur if the device is locked prior to the application install occurring, or if the device is disconnected from its cellular/WiFi network. 


For iOS devices, this error occurs after the command itself has been sent from AirWatch to the APNs server. The APNs server will continue to store this APNs command until the device re-establishes connection and checks into AirWatch to process any pending commands.
