FAQ: Simplified Enrollment with AirWatch Autodiscovery

How do I register my email domain?

For new customers and trials using AirWatch 6.4 or above in the Cloud, AirWatch will attempt to register your email domain the first time you log in. You can view the status of your registration by navigating to System Configuration > Devices & Users > General > Enrollment.

On-premise and existing Cloud customers using AirWatch 6.4 or above will need to manually register an email domain. From the AirWatch Admin Console navigate to System Configuration > Devices & Users > General > Enrollment and choose Add Email Domain. Verify the Group ID you want to associate with this domain and enter your Email Domain and Confirmation Email Address. Verify your email address by clicking the confirmation link in the email sent to the address you provided.

Customers using earlier AirWatch releases will need to upgrade to AirWatch 6.4 to register their email domain.

 

How do I know if an email domain was registered successfully?

  • Domain registration status can be found by navigating to System Configuration - Devices & Users - General - Enrollment.
  • Pending: Confirmation email has been sent; confirmation link has not been accessed
  • Not Allowed: Registration failed
  • Complete: Registration successful

 

My email domain registration fails when I click the confirmation link.

Email domains can only be registered to a single Organization Group in a single AirWatch environment. If your registration failed, your email domain may already be registered to a different group or environment. You must delete your existing registration before you can register the email domain to another group. View existing or pending registrations by navigating to System Configuration > Devices & Users > General > Enrollment in the AirWatch admin console.

 

My users have different email domains, can I use this?

Yes. You can add multiple email domains to an Organization group. Consider adding alternate email domains to other Organization Groups to facilitate multi-tenancy.

 

I do not want to register my domain. Does this change my enrollment process?

Registering your domain is optional. If you choose not to register your domain, you can continue using your existing enrollment process. If you use the AirWatch MDM Agent to enroll, you will be prompted to enter your email address. You can skip this by clicking “Continue Without Email” to enter your Enrollment URL and Group ID as usual. If you do enter your email address, the agent will detect that your domain is not registered and prompt you to enter your Enrollment URL and Group ID.

 

Can I register my email domain in my test environment?

Each email domain can only be registered to a single Organization Group in a single AirWatch instance or environment. If your organization has a separate test environment, you will only be able to register your email domain in either your Production or Test environment. Consider registering an alias domain in your test environment.

 

Who can register an email domain?

To register an email domain with the AirWatch Auto Discovery Service, administrators must have access to the AirWatch admin console and a valid email address matching the domain to be registered. Administrators must access a link sent in the confirmation email to complete the registration.

 

I registered my email domain during my trial, how do I switch to my production environment?

If your production AirWatch environment is different from your trial environment, you will need to delete your email domain registration in your trial environment before registering it in your production environment. Log into your trial environment and navigate to System Configuration > Devices & Users > General > Enrollment. Delete your existing registration.

 

My trial is expired and I cannot log in to delete my email domain registration.

My AirWatch admin console is not on AirWatch version 6.4.  Can I use this?

This feature is only available for customers using AW 6.4 and above

 

When I enter my email address in the AirWatch MDM Agent I get the following message “Automatic lookup using your email address failed.  Please manually enter the server and Group ID”

When you enter your email address, the AirWatch MDM Agent tries to retrieve your Enrollment URL and Group ID from the AirWatch Auto Discovery service. If your details cannot be found, you will be prompted to manually enter your Enrollment URL and Group ID. If you believe you have registered your email domain, verify you are entering the correct email address. You can also verify your registered domains from the AirWatch Admin console by navigating to System Configuration > Devices & Users > General > Enrollment
