Updates to AirWatch Container for iOS functionality
Due to changes in the functionality of certain APIs for iOS, the next major release of AirWatch Container will exhibit some changes to functionality compared to previous versions. These changes will affect all apps that are not submitted to the iOS Store by AirWatch. All AirWatch productivity applications will continue to function without any changes.
- Container cannot confirm if an application is installed - with the next version of AirWatch Container, we will be unable to determine if an application listed within Container is currently installed or not. Even if an application is installed, the application will show with a "+" icon when viewing it from the AirWatch Container view.
- Applications cannot be launched from Container - Even if an application is already installed, users will be unable to launch that application directly from AirWatch Container. If an already-installed public application is selected, the user will be redirected to the App Store, where they will be able to select Open to launch the application. If an already-installed internal application is selected, the user will be redirected to the AirWatch App Catalog, where they can choose to re-install the application.
- AirWatch Console cannot identify when applications are installed - As the AirWatch Container is unable to determine which applications are installed on a device, the data samples sent to the AirWatch Console will not contain this information. When viewing a Container-enrolled device from the AirWatch Console, it will not show that any managed applications are installed.
Additionally, the next version of AirWatch Container will introduce updated security requirements for network communication.
