The Settings Comparison feature enables you to compare settings across different Organization Groups (OGs). This feature can be used for troubleshooting issues or checking consistency between OGs.
Comparing OGs from Different Environments
Organization Groups from different environments can be compared by uploading XML files containing the required OG settings. These XML files can be obtained from the Settings Summary page.
For example, once a User Acceptance Testing (UAT) server has been configured and tested, and the production server is ready for an upgrade, the Settings Comparison feature enables the UAT settings to be compared with the production settings directly, eliminating the possibility of errors due to difference in configuration.
Comparing Two OGs
Perform the following steps to compare two OGs:
Navigate to Groups & Settings > All Settings > Admin > Settings Management > Settings Comparison.
Select an OG from the left drop down menu (labeled as 1) or upload the XML settings file by selecting Upload and choosing an exported OG settings XML file.
Select the OG with which you want to compare the OG selected in the previous step from the right drop down menu (labeled as 2).
Select Update to view a list of settings for both the OGs. Differences between the settings of both OGs will automatically be highlighted, as shown in the image below. You can enable the Show Differences Only checkbox to view only those settings specific to one OG but not the other. Individual settings that are empty (or not specified) get displayed in the comparison listing as NULL.
Note: Apply a filter to the comparison results to view only those settings you are interested in comparing. Check a single setting based on the name using the Search option.
Exporting XML Files
Perform the following steps to export XML files from the Settings Summary page:
- Navigate to Groups & Settings > All Settings > Admin > Settings Management > Settings Summary.
- Select the icon that is next to the Search List field to export the XML file.
