Where do I enable Shared Device mode?

For the organization group where you will be staging and using your staged devices, navigate to Groups & Settings > All Settings > Devices & Users > General > Shared Device.

 

How do I make a user account eligible for staging shared devices?

In the user account details, select the checkbox marked "Enable Staging," and be sure to specifically select "Multi-User Device Staging" as the staging type.

 

What are the requirements for the user accounts to be eligible for staging shared devices?

The staging account should only have Multi-User Staging enabled. If you have any other type of staging enabled as well, you will be allowed to stage the user but encounter an authentication fail error when trying to check the device out.

Staged account – Should not have any sort of staging enabled. If the staged user account is managed at a lower organization group than the staging user account, you will have to prompt your users to input the Group ID in order for the device to check out (this can be done on the Shared Device page in All Settings). Otherwise, you will receive an authentication fail error.

 

What are the requirements for the user accounts that are going to check the devices out?

The staged accounts should not have any sort of staging enabled. Additionally, the staged account should be managed at the same level that the staging account is managed. If you stage the device at a higher-level organization group than the staged user account is managed, you will receive an authentication fail error when trying to check out the device.
