Introducing VMware AirWatch® Container 3.3 for Android

The VMware AirWatch® team is excited to announce that AirWatch Container 3.3 for Android is publicly available.

Bugs Fixed in this App Version

  • AWORK-168261 – Resolved an issue with the home button on Container navigating to EasyWiz Launcher mode.
  • AWORK-168241 – Fixed an issue where Device Details was not showing the profile list and correct app list for Google Pixel phones in the AirWatch Admin Console version 8.4.
  • AWORK-168221 – Fixed an issue where the SSO passcode screen did not indicate to the end user that password history requirements were not met when type is set to numeric passcode and an end user tried setting a previous passcode.

Known Issues

For customers utilizing the Android Container along with other productivity apps (Inbox, Content Locker, Browser, Video, etc.), AirWatch requires the Container app to be upgraded to the latest version available in the Play Store (3.3) ahead of the upcoming release of the AirWatch productivity apps. Users that do not upgrade to the latest version of Container first, will run the risk of losing each Productivity Apps local data.

Action Items for Customers

  • Update to the current latest version of AirWatch Container (version 3.3) prior to upgrading other productivity apps which will be available in the upcoming weeks.
  • Users that do not upgrade the Container first will need to manually clear the App Data for each app locally on the device by navigating to Settings > Application Manager/Apps > {App Name} > Storage > Clear Data (note that the exact selections may be slightly different depending on Android version). Note: this will remove any local data, and will trigger a sync the next time the app is launched.
