Introducing AirWatch Launcher 2.2 for Android

The AirWatch® team is excited to announce that AirWatch Launcher 2.2 for Android is publicly available.

What’s New in this App Version

  • Added the ability to add the Device Details widget locally on the device. This widget gives information about the date, time and connection type, with additional information in Settings.
  • Re-introduced support for certain settings that were deprecated with Android Lollipop, such as Bluetooth, Language, Security, Screen Lock, and Tethering.
  • Introduced access to the Date/Time settings within Launcher, which requires a custom settings profile.
  • Added the ability to launch a specified app after Launcher start-up or reboot.
  • Added the ability to lock the orientation of Launcher to either portrait or landscape view on phone devices.
  • Made modifications to the access method of Quick Settings for single app mode.
  • Hid the Status bar and Action bar and added the ability to pull it down when needed for template mode.
  • Added a restriction on switching between different users on a device using Android multi-user feature, which requires the Samsung ELM Service.
  • Added a ghost icon for folders on the Launcher UI when a folder is hovered over a valid grid position.
  • Added the notification count on the settings floating action button for single app mode.

 

Bugs Fixed in this App Version

  • ALAU-169225 – Fixed an issue where the Samsung Keyboard was restricted on device restart when invalid credentials are entered.
  • ALAU-169228 – Fixed an issue where the notification setting does not show the count of unread notifications.
  • ALAU-169239 – Fixed an issue where the ELM service was blacklisted and the Agent would not open.
  • ALAU-169259 – Fixed an issue where the app manager does not display any apps or tasks running on the device.
  • ALAU-169281 – Fixed an invalid profile error when the user name or organization group has an upper case character.

Minimum Requirements 

  • Android 3.0 or higher
  • AirWatch Console 8.3+ (for some new features) otherwise AirWatch Console 7.0+

How to Download AirWatch Launcher 2.2 for Android

  • Prior Version is Installed – The admin can decide when to push the app once it is available on the AirWatch Console as a seeded application. The application seamlessly updates over the existing application version without disrupting device enterprise functionality. 

    • The user will have to grant permission to the Launcher to be able to upgrade and work as expected.
  • Prior Version is Not InstalledOnce the admin decides to push the AirWatch Launcher to the devices, the Launcher gets downloaded to the device as a seeded application.
    • For Samsung SAFE devices, the Launcher will be setup without any end user interaction and the native launcher will be replaced by AirWatch Launcher. For non-SAFE devices, the user will be directed through a two-step process to set the AirWatch Launcher as the default Launcher.
    • The user will have to grant permission to the Launcher to be able to upgrade and work as expected.
